Pretoria Attractions
Pretoria has been capital of South Africa since 1961. It is a city of wide Jacaranda tree lined avenues overlooked by the magnificent golden stone Union Buildings.

There is much to see and do, many attractions for all the family and Pretoria hotels are some of the best and most pampering in the whole of the country.
Attractions in Pretoria and the surrounding area
Not far from Pretoria is Bronkhorstspruit, a small town known for its stores, shopping centers and as a great place to wander around and relax. Another excellent example of Pretoria attractions is the native village of Ndebele and Museum situated north of Bronkhorstspruit and close to KwaMhlanga. This is the place for visitors travelling to the Mpumalanga game reserves or on their way to Pretoria to stopover.
There are many attractions in Ndebele. It’s a sort of living museum where people wear traditional costumes and do traditional arts and crafts such as weaving, beading and traditional dances. The Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum is another of Bronkhorstspruit’s attractions where you and the family can see animals, machinery and tools used on the farm in years gone by. There are regular demonstrations of old skills like candle making and baking and sheep shearing. If you’re a water sports enthusiast - don’t miss out on the Bronkhorstspruit Dam.
Other Pretoria attractions include Cullinan, a mining town where the world’s largest uncut diamond, weighing over 3000 carats, was discovered in 1905. Don’t miss the chance to take a tour of the mine, they are held regularly. Who knows what you’ll find?
Yet another example of Pretoria attractions offered the visitor is the Fountains Valley Recreation Resort perfect for a traditional braai or barbeque, for a game of tennis, a pleasant swim or just to rest and relax.

Try to make time to visit South Africa’s first nature reserve, Fountains, where you can wander along the hiking trails, rent a mountain bike, go horse riding or even camp out for the night.
Arcadia is close to the city centre and is perfect if you have business to conduct in Pretoria. The Don Arcadia I and Don Arcadia II are perfect places to stay being centrally located, close to all the main government offices and commercial districts as well as other Pretoria attractions.

Park Street is Pretoria’s main street where you will find the Pretoria Art Museum, directly opposite the Don Arcadia II. The Gerard Moerdyk Restaurant set in a1920’s building lets you experience traditional colonial African meals.

Pretoria is a wonderful place to visit, quieter than larger cities like Johannesburg and Cape Town, but with a unique atmosphere all of its own.
